If you’re not familiar with the name PopuMusic, it’s honestly not your fault. The China-based maker of smart musical instruments has kept a notably low profile over the years. In fact, despite launching four crowdfunding campaigns, the brand has barely appeared in mainstream tech media. While one could argue it’s their niche, that doesn’t amass them much coverage; it’s worth noting that companies like LAVA MUSIC, operating in a similar space, have managed to garner more attention worldwide, be it for their stringless electronic guitars or Home Studio Amps.

The reason, as I see it, is the platform they chose for their crowdfunding campaigns. For years, every PopuMusic campaign has been launched on Indiegogo. This is their first time debuting on Kickstarter. The company has introduced the world’s first wireless MIDI synthesiser speaker on Kickstarter, describing it as “all from one sleek, powerful system made for high-fidelity sound, light, and creativity.” In simple terms, PopuMusic has combined a synthesiser, a wireless MIDI hub, and a high-quality speaker into one portable device.

Dubbed PartyStudio, the portable speaker can connect to up to four MIDI keyboards simultaneously with sub-16ms latency. It also delivers 70W of output power through dual 10W high-frequency drivers, dual 25W mid-bass speakers, and a rear passive radiator, offering roughly three times the punch of standard portable Bluetooth units. Additionally, it supports 128 professionally tuned instrument tones ranging from piano to violin and guitar.

Another USP of the PartyStudio is its easy connectivity. As noted in the company’s press release, PartyStudio can link up to four MIDI devices simultaneously (three via Bluetooth LE MIDI, one wired), each with its own unique voice. Complementing this, a built-in drum machine packs over 50 customizable rhythm patterns with full BPM control. At the same time, NFC pairing and Wi-Fi for over-the-air tone updates ensure effortless integration. The device even supports expansive setups such as a 108-key virtual keyboard by chaining multiple 36-key PartyKeys controllers.

The device features a touchscreen, dual knobs, buttons, and switches for quick instrument changes, plus a headphone jack for private monitoring. It also includes a colorful LED strip that syncs with the music, adding a visual flair to any session. From a design standpoint, the speaker features an IPX5 water-resistant build, a lightweight frame weighing under 2lbs, a hand strap for portability, and packs a 5000mAh battery that provides up to eight hours of playtime. The device recharges in about three hours via USB-C, ensuring you can keep the music going with minimal downtime.

The speaker is also compatible with iOS and Android apps, and pairs with accessories like adjustable performance stands and PartyDrums for full-band mobility, making it ideal for outdoor festivals or impromptu house gigs. For those interested, you can snag the device for $299 Early Bird Price on Kickstarter. If you are seeking a hands-on demo or would prefer to see it live, the company is bringing the device to CES 2026.
