Swiss high-end audio brand Piega launched its Premium Gen2 speaker series earlier this year, which includes the Premium 301 Gen2 bookshelf speaker and the Premium 701 Gen2 floorstanding speaker, both featuring its proprietary RM01-24 ribbon tweeter. Now, the company has released a new flagship model that goes a step ahead by integrating a ribbon tweeter with horn attachment for the first time. This acoustic innovation, combined with unique dynamics and the signature aluminum cabinet, results in a dynamic high-frequency range, backed by other drivers to deliver an overall soundscape that is clear at both low volumes and high levels.
The Premium 801 has a newly developed SSD ribbon tweeter (Super Symmetric Drive) with horn attachment that offers natural, precise sound with high dynamics and minimal distortion. With 0.03 grams of moving mass of the foil, the high frequencies respond with fast speed and detailed resolution. The result is a spacious, faster, and naturally warm sound image that offers concert-like clarity.
The horn attachment almost doubles the efficiency by delivering focused output and reducing unwanted reflections from the floor and ceiling. It allows for a lower crossover frequency of around 2.7 kHz and extends the presence range for clarity and detail. The audio system is capable of reproducing audio as intended by the recording engineer, thereby putting you right in the middle of a music concert or intense action movie on the bleeding edge. With these physical improvements, the speaker is well-suited for classical and jazz music, as well as for audiophiles who listen to female vocal-dominated tracks.

Along with the new tweeter, the Premium 801 loudspeaker is equipped with four FSD-based drivers for deep bass and a dedicated midrange driver with FSD (Full Symmetric Drive) technology to reproduce natural vocals. The 3-way system has a frequency range of 32Hz-50kHz and 90db sensitivity.
As for the design, the Piega Premium 801 has clean lines and a space-friendly, vertically elongated shape that should elevate any modern interior. You can choose from three colors and base options to personalize it as per your own style. Each unit measures 16 × 21 × 31 cm and weighs about 40kg. If you wish to buy one, you have to fork out a substantial chunk of your savings.
As noted by GearPatrol, Piega’s all-new Premium 801 floorstanding loudspeakers are available only from the UK-based audio retailer Henley Audio, with a price of £9,200 (roughly $12,200) for a pair.
