Marshall has unveiled the Jimi Hendrix 60th Anniversary Acton III Bluetooth speaker as part of a limited-edition collection celebrating six decades since Hendrix first plugged into a Marshall amplifier. To pay homage to the legendary singer, the brand has replaced standard vinyl with purple fabric inspired by Hendrix’s personal style. This resulted in psychedelic-inspired celestial designs, drawing from the themes that inspired Hendrix’s creativity: space, the cosmos, and the color purple.

Jimi Hendrix began playing guitar at the age of 15 and developed his style through years of practice and performing with R&B artists. In 1966, Chas Chandler took him to London to form The Jimi Hendrix Experience, and this is where a legendary performance made him one of rock’s biggest new stars. By 1969, he was the highest-paid rock musician in the world and headlined the legendary Woodstock festival. His music is still a vibe and inspiration for many upcoming musicians.

His journey has been made possible by Marshall amplifiers. Their collaboration played a key role in redefining rock music, which is now being taken further with a new Acton III speaker featuring a psychedelic aesthetic. As described by the maker, “Space wasn’t just a theme for Hendrix; it was his playground. The cosmos gave him a bigger stage, influencing his creativity. We channeled these themes to create our psychedelic anniversary edition products.”

Influenced by Hendrix’s love for velvet, silver jewelry, and his fascination with space and science fiction, the Acton III speaker is wrapped in crushed velvet fabric with a silver control panel featuring purple knobs and purple LED lights.

The tactile controls on the top are a cool design element that adds to its vintage look. The amp-inspired knobs in custom silver are used to adjust bass and treble. There are also buttons for Bluetooth and AUX modes, while you get to listen to unique sounds taken from Hendrix recordings when you turn the speaker on and off. One more important feature is that it optimizes the sound according to your room’s space automatically.

With outward-angled tweeters and updated waveguides, the Acton III speaker is designed to deliver a wide soundstage that reaches all corners in the room. It also boasts dynamic loudness that makes songs sound balanced at both higher or lower volumes. This audio architecture keeps the highs clear and the lows deep, making the speaker ideal for listening to classic Hendrix tracks.

The Marshall Jimi Hendrix 60th Anniversary Acton III Bluetooth speaker boasts vintage rock aesthetics and will be a great item for collectors. If you wish to buy, it is listed for $299 on the official website. Other than the speaker, Marshall has also launched a 1959 JMH Half Stack and a limited-edition Fuzz Face pedal – both inspired by Hendrix’s iconic sound and cosmic aesthetic.
