“Wherever There’s Space, There’s a Show!” That’s the tagline, Laserabc, a Hong Kong-based tech startup, is using to market its latest creation, Laserabc A1, an ultra-portable RGB laser show projector on Kickstarter. The A1 can throw beams up to 200 meters, which is frankly absurd for something you can carry in one hand. The device can project on any surface, ranging from walls and tents to city skylines and even your crush’s door.
The portable laser projector comes in two versions: a 2-watt and a 5-watt model, both with full-color RGB laser engines. However, the two models differentiate from each other on various levels. This includes power output, brightness, and coverage range, designed for different usage scenarios.
According to the makers, “the 2W Version offers softer brightness and smoother visuals, ideal for darker environments such as night-time outdoor use, small indoor parties, or ambient setups.” The 5W version, meanwhile, “delivers higher power and stronger brightness for more immersive, high-impact visuals.” The latter performs well in both bright and dark environments and is better suited for large venues, parties, and high-energy events.
The user can operate the projector via an accompanying (unnamed) application, which means you won’t need to learn the kind of arcane software that usually comes with professional laser equipment. Weight-wise, the beefier 5W battery version weighs 2.2lbs, while the lighter 2W non-battery model sits at 1.4 lbs. So, either of these shouldn’t be a bane on one’s back.
Both units feature magnetic mounting and tripod compatibility for quick setup. If you are a touring DJ, a wedding photographer, or just someone who thinks their rooftop parties need more lasers, there couldn’t be a better choice than A1. Laserabc also includes ILDA and DMX protocol support, so the A1 can slot into existing lighting rigs.

Another impressive feature that I really liked is that users can freehand draw and see their sketches appear in light. One can even outline buildings and objects, like cars with animated laser lines, playback laser line animations, or project custom text and logos for events and pop-ups.
Interested buyers can grab the 2-watt model for $239. The upgraded 2-watt version with built-in battery goes for $299. The 5-watt model with built-in battery is priced at $419. Notably, these are all Early Bird Deals and may expire soon, considering the projector is turning out to be such a rage on Kickstarter.
