Most people love summer for the warm weather, long daylight hours, and opportunities for outdoor activities like beach trips and vacations. Conversely, others like me dislike summer due to extreme heat, humidity, and the discomfort of sweating. If you are inside your home or office, an AC might help you combat summer heat. But, when you are outside, you not only have to brace extreme heat but also deal with humidity and intense UV rays. This is why it’s important to invest in a handheld fan that provides personal cooling, both indoors and on the move. One such fan that’s making news lately is the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool.

First reported by CNET, Dyson unveiled its first-ever portable handheld fan today, marking a significant expansion for a brand long renowned for high-end vacuums and bladeless tower fans. But what is making news here is not Dyson’s foray into the portable fan niche; it is the fan’s price that has left people drooling.

Dyson has priced the HushJet Mini Cool at $99, which is $50 less than Shark ChillPill, which its competitor launched a month back. It is worth noting that the Shark model includes a misting attachment and a cooling plate that the Dyson lacks.

Moving on to the features, the fan uses Dyson’s proprietary “HushJet air projection system technology” that first debuted on one of the company’s air purifiers and is known for delivering exceptionally quiet operation. Despite its compact form, the device packs serious airflow specs.

The brushless motor spins up to 65,000 RPM and can deliver focused airflow of up to 25 meters per second, roughly 55 mph, while the whole unit weighs just 7.5lbs. The fan features five speed settings plus a boost mode for peak heat conditions. It is available in three colorways: blush pink, red, and blue.

Another aspect I liked about the fan is its versatility. The HushJet Mini Cool can be placed on a desk, carried in hand, or worn around the neck using an included Neck Dock, catering to users whether they’re working at home, commuting, or on the move. Battery life is rated at up to six hours per charge. Those interested can order the HushJet Mini Cool from Dyson’s official website in the coming days.
