Italian design company De Castelli, well-known for metalworking, will be present at the Salone del Mobile 2026 to showcase its expertise in combining age-old blacksmith craftsmanship with modern technology to create unusual pieces. The brand will be exhibiting the latest Dorica furniture collection of cabinets, sideboards, and side tables, all showcasing a famous architectural silhouette in the brand’s signature style. Furthermore, these pieces come with a shiny gradient effect that instantly grabs attention.

Designed by Francesco Forcellini, the furniture collection translates the ancient Greek architecture into a functional form. The designer has reproduced the stature and proportions of the classical Doric column, which results in a groovy surface reminiscent of the Greek columns.

These pieces come in a new DeFauvé stainless steel finish with a shaded effect achieved by oxidizing the metal. This innovative treatment features a vertical color gradient that begins as a polished steel base and intensifies into a deep red at the top. This unique finish is applied even on the top surface.

The cabinet, sideboard, and side table all have concave slats that meet at sharp edges, creating a strong vertical rhythm on the surface. As seen in the images, the reflective surfaces add sculptural essence by creating a visual interplay of different shadows on the floor.

These metal pieces are not designed to look aesthetic only from the outside. The real fun comes when you open the door of a cabinet, revealing the burgundy red lacquered interior that completes the textural experience.

De Castelli sees metal as a noble material that can go beyond its original finish, and the Dorica collection is a great example. The maker has creatively utilized oxidation techniques to create a vertical color gradient finish.
