Watching birds playing and splashing water around is the most soul-rejuvenating thing to witness. If you have a backyard, a garden, a rooftop terrace, or a considerable balcony, you can easily create a refreshing feather lounge for your beautiful avian guests and small local wildlife. The easy DIY modern birdbath provides a safe place for birds to hydrate themselves and bathe to beat the summer heat.

As you may already know, finding a clean water source is difficult for them. They have to endure a long journey just to get mere sips to soothe their parched throat. That is why it is important to reserve a place in your home to help out your feathered companions. Made from a shallow ceramic bowl or pate perched on three wooden dowels, the DIY birdbath will add a clean, minimalist look to your outdoor space.

To give privacy to the birds and protect them from cats, it is important to keep the birdbath elevated and surrounded with decent greenery. Keep in mind not to submerge it in dense foliage, as cats might use it to kill the birds. The Art of Doing Stuff tells you how to build a soothing birdbath, and we have broken it down into easy steps that you can do over the weekend. So, make this bird spa and get a chance to witness their daily splish-splash spectacle.

Material You’ll Need:

  • Three wooden dowels or broomsticks, each three feet long
  • Candle plate from IKEA or any other shallow bowl
  • Outdoor sealant or Varathane with a satin finish
  • Level and hammer
  • Paint or stain (optional)

How To DIY Easy Modern Birdbath:

  • Make the wooden dowels weather-resistant by either painting them or sealing them with Varathane for a smooth satin finish. Wait until completely dry
  • Choose a place with ample shade and a little sunlight. It helps keep the water cool and delays evaporation
  • Hammer the dowels to the ground and use a level to check for a uniform, flat surface, or else the plate might wobble and scare away the birds
  • Place the dish on top of the dowels and place a rock in the middle. Fill it with half or two inches of water. The rock will provide a perch for the birds if they just want to drink water

Your easy DIY modern birdbath is ready and set to welcome your feathered guests. Its clean and natural appearance will attract more birds easily. Birds are cautious by nature, so don’t expect to get visitors instantly.

Take care of your feathered friends this summer with this easy DIY birdbath. You’ll start to notice birds coming one by one within days, and once the word spreads, an entire flock will come by to enjoy the minimalist bird spa you built with so much love.

Watching birds sooth their parched throat and relaxing near birdbath rejuvenates soul and mind.
