Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola is famous for her playful yet elegant designs, and she recently collaborated with the Italian furniture brand Cassina to present a new collection following the same idea at Milan Design Week, 2026. The collection is called Ardys, which explores material intelligence while balancing soft, quilted textures with architectural, sculptural forms. The collection features a modular sofa and coffee tables that complement each other effortlessly.

The centerpiece of the collection is the sofa, an upholstered system characterized by its tactile, inviting presence. Based on a square grid, the sofa is a contemporary quilt featuring generous volumes and deep stitching that create a rhythmic pattern of raised and recessed surfaces.

It is a highly modular system where elements can shift, separate, or combine to adapt to changing spaces. The visible stitching outlines the sofa’s contours, giving it a graphic quality that balances visual and physical comfort.

The collection also includes the Ardys coffee tables, designed to act as a material counterpart to the soft sofa. These tables bring a strong architectural and sculptural feel to the space.

The tables are crafted from scratch-resistant lacquered concrete with a refined ceramic effect finish, making them suitable for both high-end residential spaces and contract/hospitality environments. Available in two dimensions, the tables allow versatile placement either alone or paired with the Ardys sofa.

Reflecting Urquiola’s commitment to flexible, human-centric designs, the furniture evolves with the user’s space over time rather than remaining a fixed object. The designer blends diverse styles, materials, and memories into a contemporary narrative.

Featured as part of The Cassina Perspective 2026 at the Cassina Store Milano, the Ardys collection uses circular materials such as recycled PET fiber to ensure pieces are designed to be welcoming and built to last.
