Toyota has branched into the office chairs section with the release of the Crown Seat chair as part of The Crown Collection. The desk chair is the byproduct of a limited, 70-piece collaboration between Toyota Boshuka (Toyota’s automotive interior subsidiary) and Itoki, a leading Japanese office furniture company. Modeled after the Toyota Crown’s front seat, the collaboration aims to bring the former’s expertise into newer settings.
Car seats are pretty comfortable and now have several facilities, keeping in mind that people are on them for hours. Bringing the same comfort to an office chair, the piece maintains its structure while sitting on a five-spoke wheelbase.
The leather-wrapped chairs are offered in two variants: Sporty and Sport. Sporty features a conventional design in various colors, while Sport comes with a more racing-bucket-inspired design with only black as the color option.
The Toyota Crown Seat office chair features three-level heating and active ventilation (built-in fan) integrated into the backrest and the cushion. A rechargeable lithium-ion battery is hidden within the base, allowing the chair to function wirelessly.
The furniture features side-mounted switches (the same used in cars) to help control the power reclining and height. Moreover, the motorized lumbar adjustment ensures ergonomic spinal alignment during long work sessions.

There is a clever Easter Egg where the original seatbelt buckle has been converted into a USB-C charging port. All these features retain the Sedan’s interior aesthetic, wrapping the user in the same driving experience. Itoki’s contribution to the technical design to the base gives the chair its five-spoke wheelbase and armrests, ensuring safe function as a rolling office chair rather than just a stationary seat.
Securing one of the 70 chairs requires luck and heavy pockets. The chair is priced at ¥495,000 JPY (approximately $3,500 USD) and is sold exclusively through The Crown retail network in Japan as part of The Crown Collection. Toyota has employed a lottery system to select the buyers due to the excessive demand among car enthusiasts and furniture collectors as well.
