When every shortlisted candidate at the 2026 Barkitecture had the most standout and extravagant kennel designs, Six Dot Design thought the opposite. For the event, the London-based furniture and homeware design studio created a weird, alien-looking, space-themed dog kennel, which doesn’t make its presence known in space; it blends in with the celestial bodies.
Dubbed A Dog in Disguise, it is designed to safeguard and disguise Alfie, the Earth-dog, as he travels into space and finds a new planet to land on, surrounded by peculiar bodies. When Alfie touches down on an alien planet, he’s going to be cautious of a strange and unknown environment, filled with friendly and unfriendly creatures. The dog will be even more vulnerable when sleeping. The last thing Alfie wants is to stand out as an Earth-dog among its alien counterparts.
Considering all the possibilities of being sniffed out by otherworldly beings, the studio designed a dog kennel to transform Alfie into an alien-dog with a stellar vessel. This pod serves as a hideout that secures him from its alien companions by disguising him as one of them. The vessel can be opened and closed for resting or masquerading as an alien.
The piece is handcrafted in Six Dot’s East London workshop using traditional metal shaping techniques. Inside, the kennel is lined with a padded leather bed with leather trim for the dog to rest comfortably during its space voyage. The landing legs bring stability to the pod as it lands on low-gravity planets.

The studio is known for its expressive forms, the use of raw materials, and visible imperfections. This dog kennel embodies the philosophy of self-expression, featuring a captivating sculptural shell, metal-shaped casing on the outside, and plush bedding on the inside.
A Dog in Disguise is a distinct cosmic kennel with alien-based camouflage, providing a safe and cave-like enclosure for the pooch.
