Let Loose, a gut health brand, invented SH*T Shoes for people who can’t poop properly. It sounds ridiculous. How can a pair of shoes help you poop? But these shoes, which the company describes as “a chicer way to poop,” are a stylish alternative to traditional, ugly stools, featuring a 7-inch lift ‘knee-to-colon’ gastro platform and retro-fit bio-feedback arch design, raising your knees into a squat-like position while on the toilet for effortless bowel movements.

Inventing squatting shoes is definitely a quirky and fancy idea, but the concept itself is not something extraordinary. For ages, squatting while popping has been a common practice in many Asian countries, parts of Africa, and the Middle East. You may also find the practice common in some parts of Europe, including Greece and even France. It is the healthiest way to get your poop moving without putting much pressure.

What was once a common practice has now been abandoned by many thanks to Western influence and the introduction of Western toilets. Creating things like SH*T Shoes is simply gimmicking what has already been there for ages. The only difference is that it is fashionable and fits modern people’s aesthetic standards and needs.

“They are about to change the way the world poops,” says Let Loose founder and CEO Alexandra Houx Grounds in an Instagram video unveiling the product. We don’t disagree with that; it is definitely a game-changer for people with gastrointestinal issues. After all, sitting upright in the toilet is not the natural position to poop; it can strain the muscle, leading to constipation and discomfort. But elevating your knees and leaning your body forward into a squat-like position can help relax muscles around the rectum, facilitating natural bowel movements without resistance.

The invention is not entirely a hoax. The SH*T Shoes are functional and help mimic the natural squat without strain and struggle, lowering the risk of hemorrhoids, which mostly affects people using Western toilets. They are a style statement that helps you poop better but makes you look aesthetic while doing it.

According to New York Post, Let Loose isn’t the only company to upgrade the porcelain throne. There are plenty of footstools designed to help you achieve a squat-like position. However, the only difference is that SH*T Shoes are pretty enough to leave out in the bathroom and take up less space, whereas other products are designed to store away.

Besides, people can choose the SH*T Shoes in two size options and colors. So, spend less time pushing and more time churning ideas, creating conspiracy theories, and whatever side hustles you undertake while pooping.

The good news is that the price is slashed, down from $123 to $96 only for a limited time, so you’d better hurry. It’s no surprise that people on Instagram are already obsessed with these chunky shoes. What about you?
