Using the facilities is an insurmountable challenge for the elderly and people with mobility issues. There was little to do anything about it, until now. Tuobong-owned brand Yueban has debuted its latest innovation, the most practical robot nobody asked for, but that can really benefit many people. At the 2026 Shanghai International Aged Care, Assistive Devices, and Rehabilitation Medical Expo, the Chinese brand unveiled Xiaoban, the world’s first self-driving toilet robot, especially designed for elderly and mobility-impaired people.
The Xiaoban is essentially a mobile smart toilet, designed for people who have mobility issues or rely on others for daily care. The self-driving toilet robot is an AI-powered assistive device that travels to users, cleans itself post-use, and returns to its charging dock. Not only does it reveal a glaring gap in the care of the elderly and mobility-impaired, but it also emphasizes how robotics can help fill this gap.
First spotted by ITHome, the device is simple and user-friendly. You press a button, and the Xiaoban mobile robot toilet drives itself over to you. You use the facility, and it automatically disinfects itself once you are done. Thereafter, it returns to a stationary bathroom for cleaning. That’s it.
What sounds ridiculous at first is one of the most practical inventions. Think about the possibilities in which the Xiaoban self-driving robot toilet can genuinely improve the everyday life of people with limited mobility.

Now let’s talk about how it works. The Xiaoban activates with the push of a button on the remote or a voice command. Thanks to a network of sensors and an internal AI, the robot toilet monitors its surroundings in real time. The smart navigation system allows it to easily detect and avoid furniture, doorways, and other obstacles.
Instead of you going to the loo, the loo comes to you. Once it is in place, you sit back and relax on a stable seat. It even comes with armrests and backrest to help you stay relaxed and comfortable, something your quintessential toilets fail to take into account for mobility-impaired and the elderly. This particular feature also helps prevent fall risks.
When you are done, the robot toilet takes care of everything on its own. Another perk you’d expect from such a device, wherein you only need to use the loo, and not even clean it, which is something its clientele will struggle with anyhow.
There is warm water for a bidet wash, a warm blast of air to dry you off, and an ultraviolet light to disinfect everything. Meanwhile, its smart odor isolation mechanism keeps any leftover odors under control so your room doesn’t smell like a public restroom.
Once you are finished, you get up and walk away. Or indicate that it is safe to return to base, and the smart robot toilet goes back to its docking station, which will be connected to your home’s plumbing system to make things even smoother. The Xiaoban toilet has a built-in grinder that grinds down waste, eliminating any pipe obstructions. When the waste goes down the drain, it goes through a self-cleaning process. It replenishes its water and charges its battery to keep it ready for the next time.

The smart mobile toilet comes equipped with a navigation engine that is driven by a 3D obstacle avoidance AI combined with multi-sensor fusion technology. It even has LiDAR and other detectors to allow it to change direction in real-time if something comes in the way. In this aspect, its navigation is similar to that of robot vacuums and robot mowers.
The Xiaobon has been developed for use in private homes, elder care facilities, and other settings. The robot toilet will cost around 28,999 yuan (roughly $4,000), although there is no word on how much it will cost overseas. Regardless of the pricing, the Xiaobon self-driving toilet robot is a device that can change the way elderly and mobility-impaired people conduct everyday tasks like going to the loo. It may even spur a movement catering to this specific clientele’s particular needs.
