Legendary Chinese-American architect I.M. Pei has designed only three houses in his lifetime, and one of his rare sculptural gems is now listed for sale for $22 million. Located in Fort Worth, Texas, the Iconic Westover House stands as a geometrical sculpture with a striking grandeur befitting a monolithic monument.

The iconic Westover House, considered a Fort Worth legend, was built in 1969 for Anne Burnett Tandy, a horse breeder and an oil heiress. She lived in the fortress-like residence with her husband, Charles Tandy till she passed away in 1980. Later on, her only daughter inherited the monumental property and lived there for over four decades until her passing in 2020.

The grand property spans across 19,133 square feet and integrates natural surroundings. The nearby oak trees beautifully envelope the property and add a lush, organic touch to its exterior. Its striking textured concrete façade, mixed with pieces of rose-quartz granite from Colorado, flaunts eye-catching fluting. This decorative element was bush-hammered line by line by hand.

Its sharply angled, canted roof, built with glass and steel, forms the garden room of the palatial property. Several small slanted slopes with north-facing glass panels throughout the property capture natural light. These angular slopes contrast against the flat roofline and accentuate the sculptural appearance of the residence.

The gorgeous circular garden in the middle of the front terrace, adorned with granite, breaks the monochromatic façade of the monumental house. The double glass door opens into the vibrant, museum-like interior with maximalist décor elements. Even the walls have the same fluted pattern as the exterior.

The open floor layout maintains flexibility where each zone naturally flows into the others. The Portuguese marble and Burmese teak floor enhance the modernism, while the paintings and décor pieces in the hallway enhance the artistic appeal of the house. Almost every room in this monumental residence has ample sunlight through large glazing without frames and a skylight roof.

The aforementioned garden room serves as the heart of the residence. The wood lattice sunscreen efficiently filters the sunlight and softly brightens up the space, while the circular fountain and green foliage add a beautiful biophilic element to the interior. The colorful mosaic on the wall contrasts with the concrete walls and captures attention quickly.

The large, frameless glazed windows visually blur the boundary with nature and maintain a constant connection with nature. The interior displays beautiful maximalist allure filled with unique vibrancy. The vivid upholstery of cozy seating and a cushioned sofa set makes the interior feel lively, while the carpets, paintings, and curtains enhance the maximalist vibe of the space.

The private property includes seven bedrooms and seven full baths with a guest zone housing three additional bedrooms with private baths, a living room, a dining room, a kitchen, and a private entry. The primary suite includes a large bedroom with a comfortable sitting area, a private bathroom, spacious closets, a fireplace, and a wet bar. The secondary bedroom has a bathroom and a large closet. The outdoor detached pool house and courtyard enhance an outdoorsy lifestyle while the lush greenery soothes mind and body.

The Westover House offers a high-end, luxurious living packed with modern amenities. This sculptural masterpiece feels like a captivating modernist sanctuary that provides ultimate entertainment, contained with secured privacy suitable for a family and a large gathering altogether. The property is listed with Sotheby’s International Realty agents Ashley Mooring, Ralph Randall, and Madeline Jobst for $22 million.
