Have you ever come across something that has so much to offer that it becomes overwhelming? Well, that is precisely the case with the off-grid Shak tiny house. Custom-built by Australian builder Removed Tiny Homes, the Shak tiny house is an odd duck that opens up everything to the outdoors, even the bathroom. Measuring 32.8 feet long and 7.8 feet wide, the Shak has strategic openings in the lounge, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom that create the ultimate indoor-outdoor living design.
It is finished in painted steel and has a roof lined with solar panels connected to batteries to facilitate off-grid power. The dwelling is semi-permanently installed in rural woodland of Halls Gap, Australia, serving as a vacation rental. It is designed for experience rather than merely staying.
Before going inside, let’s talk about the most unique aspect of this tiny house. It has three doors, opening the three vital spots: the open-floor living and kitchen area, the bathroom, and the bedroom. The living area even has a giant operable window to further the open theme.
The single-level Shak tiny house features a deck area, expanding the living space. The communal spaces are accessible through a triple-fold glass door. Inside, you find high ceilings and generous glazing, opening up the space. The living area takes up the far corner with a sofa, a coffee table, and a wood-burning stove. A window seat next to the large operable window so you can enjoy the cool breeze kissing your cheeks.
On the other side is the kitchen. It has a giant bar-style window where you can put down a few barstools on the deck outside and eat. That, however, is not what makes the kitchen of the Shak special. Instead, it is the addition of a wine tap on the countertop that gives it extra spice.
The galley-style kitchen is sleek with black marble countertops and backsplash. It includes a two-burner integrated cooktop, an under-counter fridge, a microwave, a dishwasher, and plenty of storage. A tall pantry stands next to the cooking area to store the essentials.
Then we come to the most exciting part of the house: the bathroom. The walkthrough bathroom of the Shak is split into two open units. One side fits the vanity sink and the toilet, while the other has the majestic shower space.
There are two overhead showers and two wall-mounted hand showers. The double glass doors can be opened up for an indoor-outdoor flow and a semi-al-fresco shower experience. The bathroom is also clad in the same black marble as the kitchen.

Past the bathroom is the sole bedroom of the house. It comes with tall ceilings and a skylight. The bedroom has a king-size floating bed with a lit underside, flanked by two built-in nightstands. There is a tri-fold glass door to bring the full scope of the surroundings inside the bedroom.
Since it was a one-off commission, you won’t find the Shak tiny house in the usual lineup the builder offers. However, if you wish to experience life inside this majestic luxury retreat, it currently sits on an isolated lot in the wilderness in Halls Gap, Australia, where you can book it on Airbnb for AUD$450 (roughly USD$315) per night.
