Pet companions and monitors are nothing new for CES. In fact, we saw some impressive pet bots at last year’s event. Robotics has been the focus at CES for a couple of years, as big names and startups are trying their hand at integrating bots into our daily lives. Monitoring pets at home is at their deepest end of focus, especially for busy parents who have to go make a living all day long.
FrontierX understands that need and wants to go a step ahead in pet bot technology for a more meaningful solution. Meet the Vex robot, revealed at CES 2026, which follows your dog or cat around the house all day long. The AI-powered pet bot is small enough, even for your little pets, so that they don’t get intimidated or scared by the bot’s presence.
The cute little sphere does what every other pet bot on the market claims, but adds a layer of AI magic to take things a step further. Rather than you scanning through the whole day’s clip of your pet for the highlighting moments, Vex extracts the video highlights on its own, stitches the clips together, and presents to you a video at the end of the day. The company calls it the “moving narratives and shareable stories” of the day. You can even share this short video on your social profiles instantly.
Vex’s low-angle perspective gives you a closer look at the pet’s activity, which should be suited for pets that are smaller in size. The integrated AI also employs the visual recognition hardware to identify the type of pet it is interacting with for better practicality.
Coming to its looks, the palm-sized spherical bot has concealed rounded limbs that propel it forward, and protruding ears to give it personality. It’ll be released in a few color options, with no word yet on the pricing or the actual release timeline. We presume the bot is still a prototype, and what we make of it is still a mystery until FrontierX opens the pre-order window in the next six months, as they’ve promised.
Alongside Vex, the startup has also launched Aura, a bigger spherical bot aimed at human companionship. This one is also going to be AI-powered and have the ability to track your body cues and facial expressions to gauge your mood. It can engage in detailed conversations thanks to the large language model integration, making it more conversational than just a functional bot.
