The legendary audio brand LEAK came into the limelight for reviving its popular 1960s Sandwich 250 and 150 models in 2024. Now, the brand has launched a new Sandwich 100, aiming to make its speaker range accessible to more people. This standmount loudspeaker is designed for smaller spaces, bookshelf, or desktop placement. With retro designs trending, this speaker is a great offer for audiophiles looking to add a vintage feel to their homes.

The Sandwich 100 maintains the classic 1960s British aesthetic while using modern materials for improved performance. Unlike the 150 and 250 models with walnut veneer on the front, the Sandwich 100 features a soft-touch, matte black front baffle for a contemporary feel.

It uses a “sandwich” approach for its two-way enclosure. The cabinet combines an outer layer of MDF with an inner layer of high-density particle board using a special glue that acts as a damping material to “scatter” vibrations.

The driver technologies are the same as previous versions. Darko Audio highlights the Sandwich 100 uses a 150mm mid/bass driver featuring a cone from a core of Rohacell aircraft-grade structural foam between aluminium skins, bonded with aerospace-grade adhesives to eliminate distortion even at high volumes.

The tweeter is a 30mm coated textile dome that allows for a lower crossover point and better power handling using polypropylene capacitors, air-core inductors, and low-loss resistors. In other audio-focused features, the speaker has a moderate sensitivity of 86 dB, a 6-ohm impedance, and can produce bass down to around 44 Hz.

The Sandwich 100 bookshelf speaker measures 34 x 21 x 25 cm, making it easier to accommodate in compact spaces than its bigger siblings. It is recommended for use with amplifiers, providing power between 25W and 100W. It is priced at $899 per pair, which is about half the price of the Sandwich 150. It is scheduled to go on sale in mid-April 2026.
