Alambicco is a ceiling lamp crafted with expertise and vision for the Italian brand Artemide. Designed by Scottish artist Neil Poulton, the light displays a deceptively simple design achieved through a complex process. The lamp is a testimony to combine traditional craftsmanship highlighting the manual skill through its delicate make.

Alambicco is a handmade luminaire made using a mouth-blown Murano glass module that extends over the inner aluminum core. The avant-garde lighting is designed as vertical and horizontal suspension light with a technological core around an aluminum structural frame that supports LED circuits enveloped by various layers.

A knurled glass cylinder comprises the first layer whereas diffusers with rounded shapes make the second layer. This helps diffuse light resulting in the reflection of colors that add a traditional charm.

Handcrafted at Artemide glass factory, Alambicco is a modular composition made using the Venetian technique called Balloton which requires special processing of the glass. It creates visually appealing pyramid structures on the outer surface. As a result, each piece is slightly different from the previous one due to the varying glass thickness.

The suspended light produces subtle, non-glaring hues as the LED light blends with the chromatic colors of the surrounding environment. The modular luminaire is a classic example of transparencies and textures and is available in two lengths.

Alambicco was part of Frankfurt’s Light and Building Trade Fair earlier this year and is also expected to be presented at the upcoming Salone Del Mobile, 2024. Visit Artemide’s official website to get more information about the light.
