Swedish retail giant IKEA is well known for stylish, eco-friendly, and low-cost furnishing. Lately, the company has been gathering loads of attention for something that is not among its forte – a tiny house on wheels. IKEA has teamed up with Vox Creative who has commissioned the renowned tiny house maker Escape Traveler to custom build a tiny house packed with IKEA products.

This 187-square-foot tiny house is Vista Boho XL model by Escape Traveler with off-grid capabilities. There is a possibility to include solar panels, a composting toilet, and an RV water heater. Its Shou Sugi Ban exterior is accompanied by a metal roof. There are a number of Low-E thermopane windows to allow an abundance of natural light.

On the inside, there are white walls with natural pine wood ceiling that blends well with the dark cabinets in the kitchen. The open floor plan ensures a smooth flow between spaces. There is a queen bed, a spacious bathroom with shower, and a fold flat couch with storage. The tiny house also includes USB outlets for user convenience.

Some of the IKEA products included in the tiny house are the KUNGSBACKA door fronts, TILLREDA induction cooktop, MALM Storage bed, and NORDEN gateleg table placed in the center of the home. It is a multi-functional table that can be used for dining or working from home and can also be folded down when not in use.

With the launch of a tiny house on wheels, IKEA wanted to show that sustainability and affordability can go hand in hand—without compromising design. Vox Creative is also offering a shoppable, look inside the tiny-home via a 360 tour and an Explainer video detailing the sustainable features of the IKEA home.

The ESCAPE BOHO XL model is currently available for purchase, starting at $47,550.
