My focus is to bring the best furniture designs from the industry to your mobile and computer screens. Amid surfing hundreds of designs on internet every day, I stumble upon some designs that not only leave me boggled but also in complete admiration of the designer as well. If turning waste into wonder is the mantra of sustainable design then Nisan Caglayan is the protege leading the charge.

The German design student utilized beer production waste as a sustainable raw material in product design. The result is a table featuring a top made of beer production waste dubbed Beerterial. The table top is made using Brewer’s grains which are leftover during the brewing of beer. It can be used as a functional side table or can be placed for showpiece purposes.

By the end of its lifecycle, the material used to make tabletop can also be recycled or biodegraded. The whole idea behind the design is to put the best use of leftover grain that would have otherwise been burnt. It is a conceptual piece of furniture which is bringing laurels to the young German designer.

The project stands upon the principles of sustainability and promotes circular design. Beerterial serve as a good alternative to conventional materials which is otherwise used in the making of furniture. The design was also showcased at the Green Product Award 2022.
