Boomerang Bed Wants You to Never Get Off

Eat, sleep, work, repeat!

I am not shy admitting that I am a lazy bum. You’d not associate me with guys who love to get up early in the morning, make their bed, and head to work. I am rather the opposite! Eating, working, gaming, and shamelessly lying on the bed, which many folks consider their pet peeve, is my guilty pleasure. For slackers like me, Portuguese designer Joao Teixeira has designed a ‘Boomerang’ bed that intends to make sloths like you and me even more torpid.

Poised on four small cylindrical legs, the Boomerang bed would leave you mesmerized, if you’re guilty of spending endless time on the bed. For after this one in the bedroom, you’d have no reason to climb down. The Boomerang bed features an adjustable table – spanning across the width of the bed – that can slide back and forth, thanks to a designated sliding zone to make a table accessible for you and your partner in bed.

The table can be adjusted as per your requirement; it adheres to whatever role you like by simply changing its placement. If you want the table to function as a desk, laptop stand, or eating tray, it seamlessly slides into position. And when you plan on sleeping, you can push it back to its existing position, which is at the tail end of the bed.

Other than the sliding table, the Boomerang bed also features an upholstered headboard that enhances user comfort when sitting in bed: working, eating, or gaming. These hallmarks make the bed inarguably very functional. It is also aesthetically pleasing and shares a resemblance with previous functional designs by Joao Teixeira.

The iF Design Award 2022 winning designer has gained a reputation for designs that are functional and aesthetically delightful. The Boomerang bed is no different. With its curved lines, it gives more value and sophistication to the minimal design. As aforementioned, the bed is poised on cylindrical legs but the legs are so sleek that the bed seem to be floating in mid-air when viewed from a distance.

Just like his other designs, Joao has included an open section at the bottom end of the bed. This area is designated to function as a shoe rack. However, it can also serve as a pet bed, in case your feline or canine fancies an open shelter.

Most critics mock Joao Teixeira for his prototypes and renders not going into production, to this Teixeira says, “Studio is gathering a selection of designs to hit the market later this year and Boomerang bed will definitely be on the list.”
