French luxury house Chloé has relaunched a limited edition of the iconic Tomato chair in collaboration with Italian manufacturer Poltronova. Originally designed in 1970 by French designer Christian Adam, the Tomato chair has been reissued at the 2026 Milan Design Week under the creative direction of Chemena Kamali.

This marks yet another fabulous surprise by a fashion brand at the design event, where we earlier saw Hermès, Dior, and Louis Vuitton unveil intriguing designs. As part of the atelier’s engagement with creation, the reissued furniture extends Chloé’s portfolio beyond fashion, where design and emotion meet to express a way of living.

The exclusive re-edition of the Tomato chair proposes a new relationship between body and object. Its soft, generous, and instinctive silhouette is inspired by the summer’s most-loved object: the heirloom tomato. The sculptural chair moves away from rigidity and embraces sensuality with its organic form.

Through the creative vision, the Tomato chair adds fluidity and tactility in a space. It is made with soft, naturally tanned leather in four curated colors: cream, cognac, sand, and black. The re-edition lends the chair a renewed clarity through material and color.

Its bean bag chair-style form factor immediately brings a nonchalant charm to the interior, whether residential or commercial. The sleek seams evoke the ridges of an heirloom tomato, while the available colors are inspired by the vegetable’s natural colors.

The chair was only produced in a limited number during the 1970s, immediately making it a highly sought-after collectible. The relaunch of the Tomato chair in exclusive editions is made-to-order, keeping the original design intact, giving a chance to modern fans to own a renewed piece of mid-century furniture.
