I am yet to walk into a Japanese home, but from my experience (given the number of cheeky home-based gadgets I have covered out of Japan) I can conclude that Japanese have the freakiest techie things to decorate their home. A long press on the control (which is also the play button for MP3 player) ensures automatic change of colors between period enhancing the sense of music you are engrossed in.

The LED lamp & music player can also be used as a desk speaker; it’s compatible with iPod and iPhone.
