Finding a secret safe under your kitchen floor seems like a mysterious story out of a detective fiction. But a Phoenix-based couple actually experienced it when they discovered few interesting things hidden under their kitchen floor. According to the couple, when they first moved into the new house they found one safe code in back of a medicine cabinet, but they had no clue what it was meant for.
After few days, they decided to completely tear apart the entire home and give interesting makeover to their new home. But while demolishing their kitchen island they found a mystery box equipped with a dial combination lock. They remembered the secret code that they found behind a medicine cabinet; using the same code and after half a dozen attempts they successfully opened the safe and were astonished to find out what was stored inside.
Well, this decades old safe included cash up to $51,080, mostly in $100 notes and a bottle of bourbon from 1960 and named ‘James E Pepper.’ Next they found a book written by E.F. Schumacher and entitled ‘Perplexed,’ it was published in 1977 with an old photograph of Gregory Peck inside the book. The back of the photo reads: ‘Alan, I have a book you must read. I’ve underlined a few key passages. Your friend, Vincent.’
After going through the book, they figured out that it’s another clue for perhaps the second treasure hunt with certain hints included on pages 1,7,11 and 14. On page 7, there’s a card with the state of Arizona (where the couple lives) with an X marked over Mesa and an underlined text. Page 11 has picture of the house, back of the photo says ‘Where one tree becomes three’. The picture has a tree with three trunks, may be indicating towards something unsolved.
On page 14 there is a bingo card and the passage: ‘Most Modern Readers will be reluctant to believe that perfect happiness is attainable by methods of which their modern world knows nothing.’ Moreover, there are three numbers marked on the bingo card. It probably could be a code to the second safe hidden in the pictured location. Well, the couple is still not sure what they’re going to do with all the cash. But they’ll surely enjoy the age-old bourbon and might try to figure out next treasure hunt very soon.
