Located an hour away from Sequoia and Yosemite National Parks, near the base of the Sierra Mountains, the Creek House is a hobbit house-style structure designed by renowned architect Arthur Dyson in 1986. The 1,845-square-foot dwelling has an iconic wave-like exterior that merges seamlessly with the natural surroundings. Listed on Airbnb, the unique residence has three bedrooms, two and a half baths, and two living spaces, making it perfect as a vacation rental for a large party of eight people.

The hobbit house is nestled on six acres of wooded property on Collins Creek, a tributary of the Kings River in Sanger, California. You get to live out your Middle-earth fantasies in this amazing Airbnb rental. The curved ceilings, round windows, free-flowing design, and immersive indoor-outdoor connectivity evoke Tolkien’s vision of a hobbit hole.

Natural materials have been beautifully blended in the interior to bring an organic warmth to the structure. Exposed wooden beams inside add a nuanced character, while the wooden exterior gives off an impression of a wooden hill with shingles on the front façade.

The original Creek House has been renovated into the modern hobbit house with some furnishing changes and paint jobs to make it more palatable to contemporary travelers. The interior is relatively subdued with geometric shapes intersecting with custom wood details. The double-height living room has a glass wall bringing in plenty of natural light and outdoor views, and a wood-burning fireplace keeps the space nice and cozy.

The property is secluded, offers private entrance and a secured garage to make your stay more pleasant. There is one king-size bed, one queen-size bed, and two queen-size pull-out couches to sleep eight people comfortably. There are two televisions and board games to keep you entertained, though you may want to explore the property rather than stay holed up inside.

You can visit a nearby restaurant for dinner, or take advantage of the fully stocked kitchen to whip up meals. There is a French press and a coffee maker as well. You will receive all the essentials during your stay along with access to amenities like washing machine and dryer, dishwasher and more.

There are many outdoor spaces for you to enjoy, including a patio, back deck, and upstairs balcony. There is a grill in the garage and a fireplace on the back deck to keep things entertaining. You and your friends or family can spend a relaxing weekend at the hobbit house-styled Creek House for about $1,000 a night. You can book this whimsical and nature-blanketed property on Airbnb.
