The Domus collection, designed by Luca Nichetto for Ginori 1735, marks a significant foray into interior design featuring lamps, furniture, and fabrics. But one of the lamps, the Liora portable lamp, is definitely the showstopper. The cordless and rechargeable lamp reimagines the traditional bugia candle holder into a modern luminary.

Bugia is a type of candleholder that was historically used to carry light from one place to another. Inspired by the same design and concept, the Liora portable lamp is designed to be moved easily between indoor and outdoor settings.

A sculptural accent piece, the lamp is distinguished by its blend of artisanal porcelain for the base and borosilicate glass for the shade. This use of mixed materials is central to the Domus collection’s design philosophy.

Available in four colors, the portable lamp maintains a strong architectural identity. Combining heritage materials with modern designs, the lamps are a statement piece that stands out for their visual impact and originality. The form of the lamp is both functional and aesthetic, intended to be the protagonist in any environment.

The Liora lamp has a distinct, architectural form, using clean lines and a balanced composition. The robust porcelain base provides a solid foundation, while the glass shade diffuses the light in a soft, inviting way, highlighting the combination of the two materials. The structure also incorporates semi-opaque steel accents, adding a touch of understated glamour and finish to the design.
