Slovakia-based Ecocapsule has introduced a conventional successor to its eponymous egg-shaped off-grid micro-dwelling, which was first unveiled in 2015. Dubbed Ecocapsule Box, it has a practical rectangular shape, designed for permanent off-grid and sustainable living. It boasts a flexible design, which allows dwellers to expand or customize the home according to their needs, making it suitable for a couple and a small family.
Unlike its predecessor, the Ecocapsule Box is a larger, two-bedroom dwelling that measures 26 feet long and 9 feet wide. The exterior of the dwelling has a steel frame and extensive glazing, including half-circle windows, keeping the interior drenched in natural light and wide outdoor views. This micro-dwelling also comes with an optional deck to expand the living space.
For enhancing the off-grid capabilities, the Ecocapsule Box is outfitted with solar panels and a battery system to run appliances when off the grid. With a smart home system and sensors, the home is easy to manage. In case of a fully off-grid option, you can go for 300-400 liters of clean water and wastewater tanks.
Inside the Ecocapsule Box, the use of natural and sustainable materials keeps the 193 square feet of space inviting and contented. The immersive indoor-outdoor connectivity is quite evident, thanks to the triple-glazed windows. The interior is equipped with a kitchen, dining space, two foldable beds, a bathroom, and an abundance of storage.
At the heart of the Ecocapsule Box lies an intimate dining area with a table and some seating. The dining area seamlessly flows into the kitchen, which includes a generous countertop and adequate storage. There are basic appliances as well, including a cooktop, fridge, and a range hood. There is plenty of storage for clothes and other belongings, too.
Nearby is the bathroom. It is a well-appointed space with a shower, vanity sink, hot water system, storage, and options for a conventional or chemical toilet for a fully off-grid home.

On the opposite side of the dining area, there is a living room-cum-bedroom. It is a multifunctional space with a convertible sofa and a bed, sleeping two people effortlessly. There is a large panoramic window that offers sweeping views of the outdoors and keeps the room illuminated. There is an additional storage space under the bed to store additional household stuff.
The Ecocapsule Box is for those who look to live a sustainable lifestyle without compromising on quality and comfort. It’s highly efficient, practically designed in harmony with nature, and an ideal solution for eco-resorts.
The micro-dwelling comes in three versions: basic, standard, and full off-grid, along with plentiful configuration options, just in case you are interested in more space and enhanced functionality throughout. The Ecocapsule Box starts at €55,000 (roughly $64,000). To note, once the house is received, there is no need for assembly. The unit arrives either fully-furnished and ready to use or without it.
