For a man who has a respectable following on Instagram, and his designs being featured in the best blogs across the globe, he’d surely find it hard to be humble. Had I been in Deniz Aktay’s shoes, I would have erased all the negative comments on my timeline only leaving traces of me being one of the best conceptual furniture designers out there. But Deniz Aktay is different. He is not just a conceptual designer who drops a mesmerizing design nearly every week but also takes criticism with utmost humility.

“This made me uncomfortable. A big no for me,” commented a random user on Deniz’s latest creation, Flitter Console table. To which the German designer replied, “Ah that’s a pity! Maybe I can convince you with the next design.” Again, had I been in Deniz’s place, the comment would have been as good as gone and reported to the platform. After all, it isn’t a matter of a design being good or bad, it’s an issue of being vocal on social media. Nevertheless, Deniz stayed humble and answered all the queries with pure modesty.

Moving on to the design, the Flitter console table is a multi-layered plywood board with many small storage areas that are created ready for your daily used items. Speaking to Homecrux, Deniz stated, “In this design, I tried to get maximum in functionality with a minimum use of material. My base idea is a multi-layered plywood tabletop torn apart into multiple single sheets on one edge.”

Glancing at the table, we can spot single plywood sheets bent beforehand and then laminated together. “Bending the single sheets is a well-known and not too complex manufacturing process. So it is also a very sustainable way to create a piece of furniture which is functional and modern at once,” he added.

It is to be noted that these single bent plywood sheets now facilitate many small storages ready for your daily used items. The single “pockets” comes in different widths so the user has a variety of storing options. Furthermore, the bent plywood sheets not only create functional storage but also appear like the board is ripped apart at the edge which has a striking visual effect.

The design looks absolutely fabulous, but it’s not for clumsy ones who are in a habit of dropping stuff. On a little downside, it may be a little difficult to clean over time when dust starts accumulating in those hard-to-reach crevices. If you are up for those kinds of challenges, Flitter Console Table is an amazing piece of furniture that maximizes functionality with minimum use of material.
