The 2026 3daysofdesign is about to kick off and has already started to gain attention for the unique exhibitions. Lighting brand BOMMA is also getting ready to debut its lighting installation Fragments of Light during the fair. The sculptural lighting installation unveils upcycled crystals that will be showcased at the newly renovated Court Theatre (Hofteatret), an 18th century theater opened after five years of restoration.

Fragments of Light installation feels like a complete performance as it will be unveiled in layers with glass, air, and fabric, while the ballet live performances will add to the existing beauty of the shimmering cluster of lights. The live performance will run every 30 minutes of the day. Through this installation, the brand aims to emphasize how once discarded items can give life to something totally new and immensely beautiful.

The lighting is made from upcycled crystal shards from the earlier in-house production. The crystals are first cut from a Fragmentglass panel and are then carefully refined by a master glass cutter. The handmade shapes look like real gemstones shining brightly from the ceiling. To reveal their inner charm and beauty, these gemstones are created under pressure.

The live performances pay tribute to the location, marking a return to the theatrical experience. The 100-year-old venue reopened in March 2026 following a meticulous five-year renovation that adds to the dramatic backdrop for the contemporary crystal displays. Visitors will enter a storied, atmospheric space filled with lit clouds of suspended light layers.

The lighting installation reminds us of the beauty of upcycled objects and the unreal experience of a theater. The installation is not just made up of luminaires but also of stories, drama, historic touch, and atmospheric essence. Coming to Copenhagen for the design festival, the installation is a one-of-a-kind experience.
