Google earns a lot of profit from ads on search results and now the company wants to expand that beyond desktops and smartphone screens. This time they are planning to feature ads on your smart refrigerator. Surprised? But, that’s absolutely true. This technology is already in use in Samsung T9000, an Android-powered operating system four-door smart refrigerator with touchscreen interface.
This refrigerator offers triple cooling and is ideal for large families. The refrigerator with this new technology efficiently adjusts the temperature control as well as features ads through Google’s Android operating system. The refrigerator can also feature ads according to its owner’s interests like if someone is interested in shopping and only wants to see ads about shopping then he/she can set the system to show ads according to his/her preferences.
Google has foreseen the future with ads displaying everywhere, explaining that they said,
We expect the definition of “mobile” to continue to evolve as more and more “smart” devices gain traction in the market. For example, a few years from now, we and other companies could be serving ads and other content on refrigerators, car dashboards, thermostats, glasses, and watches, to name just a few possibilities.
Yes, not only refrigerators, but Google is planning to serve up ads on Nest’s smart thermostats, car dashboards, smart watches, Google glasses, etc. too. Soon, ads will not only be a part of computer screens or smartphone screens, these will be displayed on every ‘Internet of Things’ around us.
