LEGO, Hot Wheels, and the Mario franchise all hold a special place in the hearts of every ’80s kid. Growing up in the ’90s, the passion shifted in favor of the Mario Kart series, and drifting Mario around the track became the ultimate pastime. Years have tossed over into decades, but the love for Jumpman and his kart has only grown stronger. So much so that LEGO has repeatedly mesmerized fans with one build after another, which has now led to the Mario & Standard Kart made from the bricks.

This new addition to the iconic LEGO Super Mario collection is no ordinary build. Not only does it comprise 1,972 pieces, but it measures 12.5 inches long and 8.5 inches tall. This makes it not just intriguing but also the largest Mario Kart LEGO set ever made. Time to clear some shelf space for this fan favorite!

Making a bold statement in all its magnanimity, the Mario Kart set features a posable Mario – with movable arms and head – in his standard racing kart from the game, and it is revealed to celebrate the Mario Kart on Mario day, aka “MAR10 Day.” While the set isn’t available for purchase yet, it can be preordered now, with deliveries starting May 15, 2025.

Like every other detailed LEGO set, the Mario Kart set promises to provide builders with a fun and rewarding experience. According to the LEGO website’s listing, the set is recommended for adult LEGO fans aged 18+, but step-by-step instructions are available in the box and through the LEGO Builder app. This means younger builders can also give it a go. But don’t count out the fact that it is going to be one challenging brick build to put all the 1,972 pieces in order.

From the revealed images, the finished Mario & Standard Kart set looks iconic in its signature red, blue, and white color theme. However, it seems that Mario and the kart form a single, unified body and do not separate at any point. That said, the included stand allows you to display the kart at various angles, to depict Mario speeding through a race or drifting through a high-stake last turn before the finish. If that’s tempting, you can preorder the Mario Kart set now on the LEGO website for $169.99.
