Catching up with the trend, the renowned German high-end camera manufacturer Leica has joined the bandwagon. Following the success of its Cine Play series, the company has introduced the Cine Compact 1, touted as a highly flexible mini projector that can be carried around the home and even on trips.
Designed with ease of use in mind, it is a plug-and-play home entertainment device that requires minimal setup effort. It combines a Bauhaus‑style aluminum housing with an elegant glass front for durability and look. Powered by an RGB triple-laser engine, the projector delivers up to 1,700 lumens of brightness, making it ideal for darker rooms or spaces. It can project an expansive image up to 220 inches diagonally.
The Leica Cine Compact 1 projector uses a precisely tuned optical system and Summicron zoom lens with aspherical elements, and a high-performance 0.47-inch DMD image chip to produce sharp 4K images with impressive brightness. Leica’s proprietary image processing technology (Leica Image Optimization – LIO) further enhances the image performance. In addition, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision technology result in great contrasts and color accuracy.
This mini projector distinguishes itself with high flexibility. Its integrated 360-degree rotation system allows you to project images from almost any angle onto walls, ceilings, and other surfaces. You do not need to set up a permanently mounted screen. Setting up a perfectly aligned image is easy, as Autofocus, automatic keystone correction, and intelligent screen framing do it automatically for convenience.
Cine Compact 1 runs on the VIDAA operating system with direct access to streaming services, including Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime. The projector works with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay, and Apple HomeKit as well as HDMI and USB ports.
If compared to the earlier Leica Cine Play 1, the Cine Compact 1 is around 30 percent smaller and 2 kg lighter. It offers a zoom range of 1.0 to 1.3, making it suitable for setups where the distance to the projection area remains stable most of the time. This means it is perfect for small rooms.
The projector has an integrated sound system with two 10W speakers that deliver expansive sound, which can be supplemented with external speakers via Bluetooth 5.4 or HDMI. Additionally, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, and DTS Virtual:X audio technologies provide an immersive surround sound experience.
Each unit comes with an eco-friendly transport case made of fully recyclable EPP material. The projector can also be equipped with an optional Leica stand to blend into a variety of living areas. The integrated tripod thread enables it to be mounted on the ceiling.
The Leica Cine Compact 1 mini projector is slated to be available for purchase on June 18, 2026, with a price of $1,995 in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the USA, Canada, and Asia. It is suitable especially for those who want cinema-like quality without a permanent installation in the home.
