As surprising as it may sound, Fosi Audio, a leading Chinese Hi-Fi brand known for its amplifiers and DACs, has never ventured into the turntable category. As a matter of fact, they were not even producing speakers till a year back. But that all changed with the launch of SP601 Bookshelf Passive speakers earlier this summer. Now, building on its success with amps, preamps, and speakers, Fosi Audio is ready to make its mark in the turntable market.
True to its tradition of crowd-funded launches, Fosi Audio is debuting the Luna3 turntable on Kickstarter. Unlike many modern turntables that prioritize flashy aesthetics, the Luna3 flaunts a minimalist, sturdy design. The turntable consists of a matte-black plinth paired with a transparent acrylic platter, inspired by the moon’s shape and color, hence the name “Luna.” This heavyweight platter is complemented by a striking orange mat, which ensures stable rotation and pristine sound, creating the perfect platform for your vinyl collection.
Beyond the plinth and platter, the turntable’s design centers on a precision-crafted tonearm, complete with a CNC-machined headshell and speed switch, accented by Fosi’s signature orange for a blend of personality and durability. In a bold move, Fosi Audio has omitted a built-in phono stage, opting instead for a pure analog output. This decision allows users to pair the Luna3 with their preferred external preamp, catering to audiophiles who prioritize sound clarity and customization.
Another highlight of the turntable is the Audio-Technica VM95E cartridge. Considered a pretty safe investment for people looking for a first cartridge for a medium-mass or high-mass arm, the cartridge helps Luna3 deliver clear vocals, sharp treble, and low distortion. Other features include manual anti-skating adjustment, copper motor head, and ±0.11% servo speed control, which promise precise, stable playback. These elements make the Luna3 a formidable competitor against turntables in much higher price brackets.

The turntable is currently available on Kickstarter for pre-order at $268. It comes with optional add-ons like a white mat, a custom printed sticker, RCA cables, multimedia cables, and other accessories. Fosi Audio also offers a speaker turntable combo, but one would have to cough out an extra $319 for it.
