Depending on who you ask, they’re called Air Blasters, Turbo Jet Fans, or simply blowers, the name changing as often as the function. Interestingly, for all their versatility, tech journalists have largely turned a blind eye to these devices. They’ve been quietly launching on Kickstarter, generating hype on Reddit, and amassing dedicated fans, all without much attention in mainstream tech circles.

That is, until SharkNinja stepped in. The global home-appliance giant has launched Shark BlastBoss, which it touts to be the “only Indoor-Outdoor Air Blasting System that converts into a powerful BlastBroom.”

First reported by Tom’s Guide, the Shark BlastBoss is a compact, cordless air blasting system designed to counter everyday messes both inside and outside the home. Unlike traditional leaf blowers or turbo jet fans, which are used for a single purpose, Shark BlastBoss blows leaves around the yard, comes in handy for tidying up dust in the house, and most importantly, sweeps debris in one pass, with the BlastBroom attachment.

As highlighted by The Verge, the device comes with three interchangeable attachments: the BlastBroom, an Extension Wand, and a Precision Nozzle. BlastBroom, as aforementioned, is designed for sweeping patios and walkways; the Extension Wand helps users reach high ceilings and hard-to-access areas.

The Precision Nozzle provides concentrated, targeted airflow in tight crevices. Users can switch between all three depending on the task at hand, making the BlastBoss one of the more versatile cleaning tools to hit the market this year.

From a technical standpoint, the device offers adjustable airflow of up to 190mph, which, as per the brand, is “gentle enough for delicate indoor dusting, and strong enough for outdoor messes, garages, patios, and cars.” Another USP of the BlastBoss, which separates it from other Turbo Jet Fans in the market, is its weight.

Weighing under 1.5 lbs, it is lightweight and easy to carry around, making it perfect for both indoor and outdoor use. The device is cordless, implying it runs on a battery. The brand has not yet disclosed any details about its runtime.

The BlastBoss is available in five colours: Charcoal, Dove, Peony, Sky, and Sage, and can be purchased from the company’s online store. Available now, the device retails at $150 in the United States and £130 in the United Kingdom. Interestingly, the BlastBoss isn’t available on Amazon for now, but can be obtained from the Target online store.
