Wisconsin-based Backcountry Containers is well known for building tiny houses made from single shipping containers and even swimming pools or aquariums. Taking its craftsmanship further, the company has completed a unique custom home that stacks multiple shipping containers together to create a bigger livable home. Its latest build, the Modern Side Stack, is a great example of the design philosophies that the company espouses, and comes complete with two decks and a covered patio between the containers.
Located in rural Texas, this home comprises two 40-foot containers welded together and another 40-foot container positioned parallel to provide a surprisingly spacious 900 square feet (83 square meters) of living space. The exterior is distinguished by white paint color contrasted by wooden cladding.
The architects have combined two containers to form an open kitchen and living room. This space includes a large garage-style door that rises up for access, a sofa, as well as a small home office. There is also a kitchen as well as a bathroom complete with shower, toilet, and laundry nook.

The third container accommodates the bedroom. It features a double bed, seating and a little storage, and an en-suite bathroom. As a cool design feature, this container is placed separately from the rest of the unit, which creates a covered patio. The home depends upon air-conditioning unit and fireplace to maintain pleasant temperature inside in different seasons.
Furthermore, the Modern Side Stack shipping container home takes care of outdoor living. It has a large wooden deck to the front and also a rooftop terrace accessed through a staircase for residents to enjoy outside. There are no details about the pricing and availability yet, but it would have surely cost more than its earlier builds.
