Milan-based firm DesignLibero has created this multi-functional shelter called Nido, inspired by bird’s nest. Combining form, function, and fun, this multi-purpose unit has been designed to bring nature indoors. It comes integrated with self-watering hydroponic planter system that transforms this furniture piece into a double-duty shelter and garden.

The planter system can be used to grow herbs and serve as a mini kitchen garden. This way the dish drainer’s excess water can be used for irrigation of plants. It is also integrated with LED lights to provide illumination for both humans and plants. For plants, the LED lights work as artificial sunlight for consistent growth. Moreover, its trellis-like frame is perfect for climber plants to grow on the structure’s exterior front, back, and roof. Hence, turning it into a vertical garden or a living wall in your home.

Seating area has been constructed out of natural and recyclable materials such as wood, textiles, and terra-cotta. The configurable space usually functions as a sofa, but it can be converted into a comfy bed, a reclining chaise lounge, or even a playground for kids. Even the cushions and seat backs can be re-positioned to turn it into a private enclave or an open space for socializing with your friends.

It is one multipurpose furniture unit that’s suitable for both indoor and outdoor spaces. Plus, it will give a lively touch to your living space with the help of lush green plants hanging around the relaxation area.
