Orbii: Rolling robotic home security device keeps your haven safe

In recent years, we have seen some exciting and innovative advancements in home security technology. Apart from technological advancements, home security has also evolved in terms of design and the same evolution is now visible in Orbii – a Wi-Fi connected smart mobile home security robot.

This orb-shaped rolling robot is a simple and smart home security device that has the upper hand in comparison to other traditional security systems which are static and offer limited viewing angle. Somewhat similar to LG’s yet-to-be-released Rolling bot, Orbii is designed to capture 90-degrees view, while the bot itself has a 360-degree range of motion.

Supporting an advance-positioning sensor, including gyroscope, magnetometer and accelerometer; the drive module inside the bot makes it possible for the device to move in any direction with accuracy. Whereas, features like sound and motion detection, night vision and room mapping nullify the need of a camera in every room.

A smartphone-controlled home security device with a dedicated mobile app gives you freedom to monitor home from anywhere. The app featuring live streaming video, real time notifications, sensor data readings, simple joystick control not only keeps you updated, but also pushes notification in case of sound and motion detection or emergency.

Unlike any other boring home security device, Orbii apart from taking care of your family, also captures memories and keeps an eye on your pet when you are not at home. Imagined to integrate with IFTTT capable devices, Orbii also synchronizes with your smart devices to manage important tasks.

Made from high-density polycarbonate shell and fitted with 720p HD camera with built-in HQ MEMS microphone, it weighs only 1.5 lbs and is 5-inch in diameter. Ideal for both outdoor and indoor purposes, the mobile home security system is currently raising funds via crowdfunding site Indiegogo. Expected to shipped worldwide by 2017, the discounted price of Orbii is $139.
