The Pac Man side table designed by Yu Ren takes inspiration from one of the most popular Japanese arcades in the history of video games. The Pac Man game showcases an animated pizza with a slice removed racing through a maze and eating things with its absent-slice mouth. Similarly, Ren’s design of the eponymous side table paints a picture where the lower shelf of the table resembles a gaping mouth and the image depicts the optimism of “I eat so I am.”
The design of the lighted side table is achieved through the plate heat bending process, while the upper and lower panels are made up of marble. It has a cylindrical body and is developed using curved plywood. The underside of the tabletop has a hidden light as well to illuminate the storage area at the bottom.
Its handle is embedded with an adjustable light source, the intensity of which can be adjusted by changing the angle of the handle. The light sources work great in living rooms or bedrooms for a subtle ambiance.
The light source brightens with the change in the movement of the handle. Its LED strip uses a low-temperature light source that doesn’t emit heat. Moreover, the handle works wonders in the moveability of the multifunctional furniture piece.
The side table offers the strongest light line at a 90-degree angle. You can touch the left and right to control the color temperature. Its gaping mouth can be used for storing books and stationery items. Would you like to have the unique albeit unassuming Pac Man side table in your home? Share your thoughts in the comments.
