Peugeot’s design studio – Peugeot Design Lab has created ONYX sofa, a 3-meter long sculpted seat from carbon fiber and Volvic volcanic lava stone, as a static partner to the 600 hp hybrid Peugeot Onyx Supercar, which boasts a blend of high-end technologies and natural raw materials. ONYX seat, made to demonstrate the successful marriage between hyper-technological materials and natural materials, is a piece of furniture that suits every customer’s choice and personality. Completed in 70 days, the ONYX sofa features hand cut volcanic stone very amicably attached to the hi-tech carbon fiber structure to form an awe-inspiring sculpted seat.

Peugeot has chosen carbon fiber for the base structure because it allows the volcanic stone to adjust perfectly in its proportions. Interestingly, to allow the sofa to maintain its raw look, the stonemason’s chisel marks have been retained. The ONYX sofa will be on display at the Milan Design Week (Salone Internazionale del Mobile di Milano) from 8 to 13 April, 2014.
