California-based startup Polydrops that launched its first teardrop trailer featuring a cool angular design back in 2019, has come up with a new trailer towable with electric vehicles. The new P17A model inherits the aerodynamic shape from its predecessor and has a lightweight aluminum frame, making it capable of being towed by most vehicles including EVs, without losing much range.

Polydrops has tested the new teardrop trailer with a 2018 Tesla Model 3 Long Range featuring 18-inch stock rims and found that the electric car was able to tow the camper 245 miles in a single charge. As noted by Dwell, Tesla cars lose as much as 50-percent of their range with campers, whereas P17A makes them more efficient with only compromising 20-percent. This means the EV will be able to tow the P17A camper farther with lesser power utilization and range compromise.

Polydrops P17A camper measures about 14 feet long, 6 feet wide, and about 5 feet high. Just like the earlier model, it has gull-wing style doors and a clear anodized aluminum finish for a cool look on the outside. It is slightly larger than the earlier model, with a six-inch wider cabin.

Its streamlined interior sports light and minimal color palette for an airy feel. The camper accommodates a full-size mattress, and it’s equipped with LED lighting, storage spaces, a micro closet with clothes bar, a control panel, and plenty of outlets and charging ports to charge devices.

The 2021 Polydrops trailer can be equipped to generate and store energy for future use.  Equipped with 520W solar panels, an MPPT solar charge controller, and 12kWh batteries; the camper can hold sufficient energy for more than six nights of climate-controlled camping. It also includes a battery-powered air conditioner, vent fan, heater, and accessories essential for an owner.

The standard model of 2021 Polydrops trailer retails for $24,990, and there is an option to include add-ons like the battery and solar panels, a Bluetooth sound system, and a kitchen module.
