I am sure the knitting community has a lot of yarn left over and no idea what to do with those surplus strings. Unless you want to use them to make a brand-new sweater or any other apparel item, I have an idea to share with you. Make a DIY Christmas tree. Think about it: The holiday season is the perfect time to utilize those leftover knitting yarns to make beautiful festive decorations. You can use those strings in a myriad of holiday crafts. I had some surplus sparkly yarn and made a DIY tabletop tree for Christmas décor. Read on to know how I did it.

Material Used:

  • Sparkly red yarn
  • Paper cone
  • Fairy light
  • Hot glue gun
  • Tree topper star

How to DIY Sparkly Yarn Christmas Tree

Step 1: Make a paper cone or use a foam one. I made a paper cone and glued it with hot glue to keep it intact.

Step 2: Coil the sparkly yarn tightly around the cone, starting from the top down. Once the cone is all wrapped up in yarn, glue the bottom edge of the yarn under the cone to keep it from unraveling.

Step 3: Add fairy lights around the cone and top it with a star.

And that is it! It couldn’t be easier and simpler. Follow the video tutorial below and let us know what you think. Have a Merry Christmas!
