Taylor Donsker Design is a Los Angeles based modern furniture company designing and handcrafting graceful wood slab furniture pieces from live edge and reclaimed wood. The design studio specializes in Claro Walnut, a rich hardwood that grows only in California, and flourishes the most stunning varieties of color and shape than many other walnut varieties. Take a look at one of its unique creation named Strike/Slip table inspired by wood movement and fractures caused by earthquakes. Unlike most of the live edge slab tables that are made of a single wood slab, it features a multi-layered, “ruptured” surface with two independently supported halves. Each half is made of multiple wood slabs, giving it looks of strike-slip faults.

According to your space needs, this two-piece live edge slab table can be split into two halves or combined to make a bigger table. The tabletop finished in natural oil and wax boasts live edges and cracks. It sits upon reclaimed Douglas fir beams that are charred with a torch to enhance the texture of the grain and allow the top to take precedence. Due to its charred base, it appears to be floating in the air. Taylor also inlaid his signature polished brass corsets into the top and base to stabilize and complement the cracks.

Wood slab tables are perfect to bring nature to any space and the Strike Slip coffee table combines natural forms with modern design to fit into every type of home decor. The design studio also offers various wood slab options to decide your kind of table. Strike/Slip coffee table in Claro walnut is available for purchase with a price tag of huge US$28,000 at 1stdibs.
