Spring is around the corner, it’s the time of the year when you want to get rid of the old things at home. Here are a few Do-it-Yourself projects that would inspire you to get creative and instigate you at building decoration pieces waste stuff at home. A good way to get rid of the old things, what say?

Ideal for indoor and outdoor purpose, these DIY projects (listed below) can guide you on how to convert waste into something of valuable for your home.

# Glass bowl as table planter

To create a table planter, all you need is a wide opening glass vessel, moss, decorative stones, sand and different succulents. Start by placing a layer of small stones in the glass bowl and then add layers of moss on it. Now, add a layer of soil to the mouth of the bowl (approx 1-2 inches from the top). You’re now good to add plants of your choice. It is advisable to use succulents and cacti in this bowl, as they can add unique flavor to your interiors.

# Popsicle sticks as hexagon shelves

To create a decorative hexagon shelf, all you need is ordinary popsicle sticks. First position popsicle sticks onto a honeycomb pattern and stick them together with glue. Once the desired depth is achieved, leave the structure to dry. After glue has dried, apply wood stain with the help of a paintbrush to get the finishing look. In less than $10, you can easily create a honeycomb shelf.

# Bicycle wheel as pot rack

An old bicycle wheel does not necessarily has to land in a trashcan, you can use it to create a revolving pot or pan rack. To create a revolving rack, first attach the hanging hardware to the wheel, which later can be attached to the ceiling. Once attached to the ceiling with the bike wheel suspending simply add hooks to it and start hanging your pots and pans.

# Old Ladder as a bookshelf

Re-purpose an old ladder into a bookshelf and provide a rustic look to your interiors. Apart from giving vintage feel to your study area, repurposing old ladder into bookshelf give second life to ladder lying around the house.

# Cookie tin can be used to store things

Empty cookie tins are best when it comes to storing small items. Upcycle your empty cookie tins into a storage container and forget about misplacing those little things like needles, thread spools and buttons again.

# Teacups can be used as candles

Very simple and easy to make, the vintage cup candles give second life to your old cups and mugs. Fill your unused cups with melted wax and make wonderful candles (glass cup and glasses can make more appealing candles). One can also add scented essence to create scented candle cups.

# Tennis Racket as trendy mirror

Converting a tennis racket into a mirror is simple. Fix the custom-cut mirror inside the racket’s rim and fill the back of the mirror with mirror adhesive. This not only gives a second chance to unused tennis racket, but also brings uniqueness and originality.

It might sound crazy, but kitchen utensils, especially forks can be used to hang coats and jacket. A handy home project – all one has to do is bend the fork ends and nail them into the wall. It not only proves to be a practical hanger but improve home aesthetics too.

A sweater keeps you warm on a cold winter night, and when its grows old it can help enhance style statement of your house. This simple DIY is about transforming old woolen sweater into stylish pillow covers. All you have to do is cut the sweater in the size of the pillow and then sew it with the help of a sewing machine. One can also embellish the pillow covers to add more style.
