Spending time and playing in treehouses is a childhood dream that many of us forget about as we grow up. Well, as adults we can explore all the wild places we were scared to go to as a child, like spending a weekend in Charlotte’s magical Carolina Treehouse hidden in the woods. Surrounded by nature, the pond-side treehouse has a rustic character with sophisticated comforts such as a swinging outdoor daybed, an exquisite interior, and an outdoor shower.

Hosted by Alyssa and Brian Foushee, the Carolina Treehouse is a serene hideaway only 15 minutes from Charlotte and accessible through a shaded drive into a forgotten forest. Perched on wood pillars, a singular spire greets you with a whimsical charm and cottage-core allure.

The wraparound porch around the treehouse offers an al-fresco cooking option with an outdoor grill, while a hammock embedded in the porch’s floor lets you admire the night sky above. The small interior is clad in earthy colors and cozy textures such as wicker, wood, and fur, making it cozy and homely. With vintage farmhouse décor to scenic views, the Carolina Treehouse has plenty of amenities to make your stay comfortable. The TV-free zone allows you to immerse yourself in the natural beauty gushing all around.

The front door opens into the open-floor interior dotted with indoor plants paired with green, white, and wooden accents to create a warming space. A rustic wood cabinet is placed next to the door to keep trinkets and books organized. The tapered ceiling helps the interior feel spacious and airy.

The kitchen for cooking while on vacation comes equipped with pots and pans, oil, salt and pepper, dishes and silverware, a mini fridge, an electric cooker, a kettle, a coffee maker, and wine glasses. A plush king-size bed with a wicker headboard is placed on the other end where round wood pieces create a stunning accent wall.

For entertainment, the hosts have placed a record player, books and reading material, and board games. A ceiling fan and central heating regulate the temperature inside. There is WiFi connectivity to help you with work inside a dedicated office area, should you need it. A bathroom sans the shower takes care of sanitary needs. It has a sink, toilet, and hanging shelves to store toiletry. An outdoor shower lets you enjoy the balmy weather and open skies as you bask in hot water. The hosts offer shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

The Airbnb rental has an outdoor swing bed that provides a fur blanket, overhead canopy lights, and a lake view for a more adventurous stay. There is even a hammock net on the deck along with a grill and seating for two to sip coffee while enjoying the beauty around. A fire pit with two comfy Adirondack chairs so you can enjoy a bonfire right by the water. You can even go kayaking in the lake or hike in the surrounding woods if you like.
