As technology is upgrading day by day, many designers and artists have shifted their inclination towards products made from natural materials. Living up to the trending concept, Carl Jacobson, a woodturning expert, has also imprinted a live edge bowl made out of walnut log. In natural edge bowls the bark side of the blank will act as the rim and the inner side will become the base.

To create astonishing product from raw material, Jacobson prefers using woodturning- a form of woodworking that is used to create wooden objects on a Lathe. According to Jacobson, woodturning differs from most other forms of woodworking, as in this process a stationary tool is used to cut and shape a wooden piece. With the help of the machinery, many intricate and delicate shapes and designs can be provided to any wood log.

The Woodshop by Carl Jacobson’s is a tutorial site, dedicated in providing knowledge, details and tips regarding the woodturning techniques and projects. The online tutorial guide talks about the entire process from preparing wood, sanding and finishing into final product.

The walnut wooden log is also turned into a cute, chic natural edge bowl by using the same woodturning techniques. The log piece was little wet, so Jacobson dried it in the microwave and further the bowl is coated with mineral oil, and then again coated with raw linseed oil along with beeswax to get the perfect neat look.

The woody bowl can be used to keep your accessories, personal belongings or store food items. It will certainly add natural rustic aesthetic into any space where it is placed.
