I had almost forgotten that hitch-mounted tents were a thing until I recently discovered one on a media outlet. My lack of familiarity with hitch-mounted tents isn’t due to any bias for rooftop or regular tents. The reason we haven’t covered hitch-mounted tents lately is purely because the camping enthusiasts have stopped drooling over them and drifted their attention toward other tent designs. Ultimately leading to a decline in hitch tent popularity and making them obsolete.

Not anymore though, as a startup called Escapade 4×4 has taken it upon themselves to reintroduce the hitch-mounted tent aka towbar-mounted tent that lost its charm over the years. The company’s latest bet in this pursuit is the THRE360 Swing-Away tent. To folks who are living under the rock, a swing-away design is similar to one used on bike racks, allowing campers to seamlessly access the rear of their vehicle, ensuring nothing stands between them and their gear.

It is not only a groundbreaking solution for convenient and versatile outdoor accommodation but also ideal for adventurers who value flexibility. This innovative tent system attaches effortlessly to your vehicle’s tow bar for a quick and secure setup.

Once unfolded, the tent is poised on six adjustable telescopic legs that offer a firm base to the user. On the inside, the tent boasts a spacious interior(85 x 65 x 55 inches), sleeping a minimum of two people with ease. To elevate the camper’s experience even further, the tent boasts a memory foam mattress that provides a soft sleeping space to the user while cocooned inside the lightweight stainless steel frame of a hitch-top tent.

For ventilation, the tent comes accoutered with multiple doors and window panels, also offering a full 360-degree view of the location. Additionally, the tent features a SBS zipper that allows users to sneak out in the wild. Combined, these features not only allow air and light to permeate the tent’s interior but also offer a picturesque view of the campsite.

Now the question arises, what makes a THRE360 Swing-Away tent worth considering? Well, if you appreciate rooftop tents but dislike ladders and wind noise, the Swing-Away tent is the ideal solution. Another aspect of THRE360 is its simple attach-and-detach method, which makes it convenient to store when not in use. Available on the company’s official website for $4,187, the tent comes in three colors – Grey, Green, and Desert. If required you can remove the telescopic legs and use the tent as a rooftop option!
