Autonomy in lawn care has progressed to a stage where companies are looking to give their lawn mowers more tricks than automation alone. Spearheading this movement, with the series of lawn mowers that improve lawn health, is Airseekers, which became a household name after its successful Kickstarter campaign for the Tron robotic lawn mower.
Enhancing the Tron Series with the new launch, Airseekers has rolled out the Tron SE lawn mower, which is easily one of the most advanced autonomous lawn care solutions on the market right now. It is because the new robotic mower shifts the focus from automation to what the company calls “ultimate lawn care.”
The mower doesn’t just cut grass without human intervention; it prioritizes lawn health by cutting and mulching with a single device. In addition to ensuring the health of your turf, the Airseekers Tron SE can also maintain its quality and appearance. To that accord, the mower arrives with six blades that can graze through all types of grass, avoiding over 115 different objects on the way, and negotiating different terrains.
The difference, however, lies in the speed at which the grass is chopped and how the clippings are treated. The robotic mower draws power from a 2,000 W peak power motor, and its dual-layered six blades rotate at 3,000 times per minute to easily cut through tall grass, wet grass, and thick weeds with ease and precision.
The high-speed blade rotation, paired with a high-velocity fan, generates cyclone airflow to recirculate and shred clippings multiple times. “This process pulverizes waste into micro-particles 30% smaller than the industry standard,” the company says. The clippings are then spread out evenly as fine mulch, which acts as fertilizer and ensures a healthy lawn. Airseekers confirms that the airflow also helps lift the wet or flattened grass upright to make sure Tron SE can provide a cleaner and more complete cut.
Tron SE adds this as a new feature and IPX6 waterproof rating, to the other interesting tricks that Tron series mowers already have in their repertoire, such as creating virtual maps of the lawn and auto recognizing boundaries. This allows the robot to intelligently plan its path for edge-to-edge mowing with minimum random movements.
No terrain is too difficult for the Tron SE to do so. The front wheel design focuses on enhancing off-road capabilities, such as getting out of traps, overcoming obstacles, and crossing hollows. Additionally, the 12-module omni-wheels feature a 30° inward inclination to enable fluid steering and protect the grass from being scuffed. Airseekers confirms, this configuration “allows the mower to climb slopes and cross uneven terrain…without slipping or sliding backward.”
Tron SE, with its cutting width of 220mm (8.66 in), isn’t a rush-to-market product. Since the successful crowdfunding in 2023, Airseekers has spent all the time until now refining and testing every aspect of the mower. Specifically designed for large-scale mowing, Tron SE features a 10 Ah battery, which allows it to cover up to 1,500m² (0.37 acre) before requiring a charge. The Tron SE carries an MSRP of $1,299. However, from May 7 to May 31, you can snag an Early Bird discount of $200, bringing the final price down to just $1,099.
