Xthings has been in the spotlight with its subsidiary brand U-tec’s Ultraloq smart locks, including the industry-first Bolt Fingerprint version featuring Matter-over-Thread connectivity and Bolt Mission version featuring UWB (Ultra-Wideband) proximity sensing, allowing you to unlock the door without even touching a keypad. Expanding its portfolio, the brand will be rolling out new smart locks at the upcoming 2026 CES, but it is the Ultraloq Bolt Sense that stands out due to its touch-free entry system, which combines facial recognition and palm vein authentication for multi-point biometric validation.
Philips and TCL have already designed palm-recognition-based touchless smart locks, and Ultraloq has done a creative experiment by combining two technologies for better verification of the entrant. This smart lock is designed to recognize the user and open automatically as they come near the door for hands-free entry.
Palm vein authentication relies on infrared light to read vein patterns beneath the skin. It identifies you even if your hands are wet or dirty and works in a dark environment, relying on its own emitted light source to capture the image.
The Ultraloq Bolt Sense has built-in Wi-Fi, and with plans to add Matter support as well. The smart lock includes active approach sensing, which means it starts authentication automatically as you come within its proximity. There is no need for any manual action on the keypad or mobile app. It works much like the UWB technology, minimizing user intervention.

This smart door lock offers one of the most popular features, but many details are still unknown. There are no words about its pricing and availability yet. Along with the Bolt Sense smart deadbolt, Ultraloq will also be launching Latch 7 Pro with support for Matter-over-Thread and Aliro. The 2026 CES showcase will also include the Ulticam IQ V2 camera with Matter support and Ulticam HaLow that The Verge says uses sub-GHz signals for greater range and wall penetration.
