Growing up watching Man vs Wild, there was always that one moment in every episode where Bear Grylls pulled out a simple piece of gear and found half a dozen different ways to use it. That idea left a deep impression on many of us. Taking inspiration from Grylls, outdoor enthusiasts keep their EDC pouch stacked with the right gear to come in handy in adverse situations. Victorinox Swiss Army Knife and Civivi’s Partake multi-tool are standard equipment. Joining that elite EDC lineup could potentially be the VEZERLEZER WK2 flashlight.

Preorder Now: $40 $19

Currently the subject of a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign, the VEZERLEZER WK2 flashlight features five light sources. This includes an adjustable high-performance white light on the front, a 395nm UV light on the front, a 520nm green laser, a rampable high-CRI warm white side light, a rampable red side light, and a red flash warning light. “You can easily switch the light mode to meet your changing lighting demands,” the brand states.

The front of the WK2 does three separate things. The main spotlight hits 1,300 lumens with serious throw, which is plenty to scan a campsite or light up a work area outside. Alongside it is a 395nm UV light built for detection tasks. This comes in handy when verifying ID documents or spotting fluorescent minerals on a hike (if you are into that sort of thing). The third front function is a 520nm green laser, which offers better visibility and range than a standard red dot, making it practical for pointing things out at a distance.

The side light is what makes the WK2 stand out from most EDC flashlights. It has a warm 4500K flood light with high CRI, which means colors look natural and clear. That makes it great for close-up tasks like setting a campsite, reading a map, going through a first-aid kit, or checking something under the hood of a car. The brightness can be adjusted smoothly from a very low level up to 200 lumens, so you’re not limited to a few preset modes.

As for design, the WK2 features a flat, rectangular body that is compact and lightweight, built to sit in a front pocket or clip deep on a bag strap. The flashlight features dual buttons, recessed and protected by raised rings to help prevent accidental presses. It also includes a built-in lockout mode, which can be activated by clicking either button five times, keeping the light safely off during storage or transport.

The WK2 supports USB-C charging and can even run directly from a power bank when needed. It also has a magnetic tail cap that sticks to metal surfaces, making it easy to use hands-free while you work.

Interested outdoor enthusiasts can reserve a unit for around $19, roughly 53 percent off its retail price of $40. For anyone tired of flashlights that do one thing adequately, the WK2 is worth a look before the early pricing closes.
