Food tastes better when it’s cooked over real flame. If you believe so, Weber’s latest Santa Maria-style live-fire grill could be a great option for you. Recently showcased at the Open Fire World Championship in Memphis, this freestanding BBQ grill lets you enjoy primal-style cooking with minimal effort. It simplifies open-fire grilling by replacing the frustrating guesswork of wild flames with mechanical control. Instead of constantly shifting hot coals or burning your food, you can use a mechanical wheel to adjust the temperature.

The Weber live-fire grill allows you to raise and lower food over flame, manage heat zones, and cook across multiple techniques in a single session. At the core of the Weber Santa Maria-style live-fire grill is the brasero, or firebox. You just need to burn wood or charcoal down to coals, and then shovel the coals under the grate to fuel the pit with steady heat. The brasero also has a sear grate on top for high-heat searing, and the cross-bar has spots for hooks. There are also some other upgrades, like a side shelf and a spot to store a shovel for tending the fire.

This BBQ grill features an adjustable grate that moves smoothly from 2 to 27 inches using a manual wheel-and-cable pulley system for precise temperature control. You can simply lower the grate closer to the coals for high-heat searing or raise it for low-and-slow roasting. The setup also supports suspended smoking using integrated hooks.

The grill has a large multi-zone cooking system that combines a firebrick cookbox and vented tailgate to deliver even heat for searing, roasting, and slow cooking. It offers more than 750 square inches of cooking space and a heavy-duty stainless-steel frame with durable cooking grates. There are also onboard wheels, which means you can move it easily around your garden.

With Santa Maria-Style Live-Fire Grill, Weber aims to bring the performance, control, and flavor of wood-fired cooking to more people. It is expected to be available in early 2027 and will be offered in two sizes. The base model will cost around $899, and a larger model is expected to cost around $1,299.

Weber says the grill is designed to make open-flame cooking more accessible, but its premium pricing still puts it out of reach for many buyers.
