If you are still not convinced that tiny houses are a solution to the housing crisis, I don’t know which world you are living in. My experience of covering tiny houses tells me, they are cheap, use less energy, and are downright amazing. With that said, I came across a tiny house built in New Zealand, and I have to admit it’s a spectacular dwelling. Owned by Cindy and Kraig, the tiny home is absolutely exquisite from the outside but it’s the interior that steals the show.

Measuring 39 feet long and 10 feet wide, this is one of the biggest tiny houses, I’ve seen in recent days. The tiny home community is growing strong in New Zealand with dynamic tiny houses showing up every now and then, but this particular home is so large that it actually boasts a second-to-none design. Still on a trailer, the tiny house is completely mobile despite its huge size.

Bryce Langston and his team from Living Big in a Tiny House walk us inside the lavish interior. But before you peep inside, I want to bring to your notice that the tiny house features a mudroom extension at the back. This is actually a really impressive feature considering tiny homes do get dirty during the rainy season when people carry muddy boots and drenching overcoats inside. But with a mud room extension, the owners and the visitors can now take out their outerwear items before entering the home.

Upon entering inside, you are welcomed by the large L-shaped and cozy rug placed on the floor. There is a TV mounted on the wall, to the right-hand side of the sofa, where you can literally lie down and binge-watch your favorite programs. The best part, the couch can actually turn into a bed and accommodate two-three people with ease. In addition, it also functions like a storage chest to house your clothes and other items. The living room has a number of windows that allow plenty of air to enter inside and offer expansive views of the outdoors.

Close to the living room is the kitchen of the tiny house and I have to admit, it is really phenomenal. There are heaps of storage sections, and cabinetry that allow you to stock utensils and other nitty-gritty essentials. It is spacious and airy (courtesy of windows) and features an array of appliances and accessories ranging from the fridge, oven, cooktop, sink, and dishwasher.

To the opposite end of the kitchen is a walkway that leads to the bedroom, bathroom, and loft section. The bathroom falls first in line featuring a decent-sized shower, sink, and a composting toilet. The duo has utilized the space to the best of its capacity and has cleverly incorporated a laundry there. Next door the couple has their bedroom.

Most tiny houses feature a loft bedroom, but Cindy and Kraig decided to have a bedroom on the main floor so it can be easily accessed from the bathroom. The problem with most tiny houses is there is a lot of effort involved when you have to answer nature’s call as you have to step down from the loft, but the bedroom downstairs solves the problem. Not to mention, despite the limited space, a little wardrobe still manages to sneak into the bedroom.

In addition to all this, the tiny house also features a sleeping loft. Accessed via a storage-integrated staircase, the tiny house loft is literally one of the biggest I’ve seen. The loft can sleep a few people and can also be used as a play room, yoga room, and other activities.
